About
Hi, I’m Natalie.
I’m a school counselor, a mom of two, and someone whose brain has never once done things the easy way. RootednChaos is what happened when I stopped fighting that and started building around it.
In 2019, I moved my whole family from a small town in Oklahoma to China. A lot of people thought I’d lost it. What actually happened is that I’d spent months quietly researching international schools at 2am, the kind of obsessive, can’t-let-it-go deep dive I used to be a little embarrassed about, before I understood it as exactly how my brain works when it’s lit up about something.
For a long time I treated my restlessness and my intensity as problems to manage. Now I understand them as the reason I’m able to do this work at all.
I’ve spent 16 years in and around classrooms, as a teacher, a special education teacher, and now a school counselor with master’s degrees in counseling and educational psychology. I have ADHD. So does my husband. My kids each have their own wiring. So none of this is theoretical for me, it’s just Tuesday.
RootednChaos exists for the people quietly holding a lot: the parents, the neurodivergent women, the ones who love hard and still end most days running on empty. It’s a place for honest words and practical tools that meet you where your nervous system actually is, instead of where everyone keeps insisting it should be.
If you’re raising a kid who feels everything, navigating ADHD or PMDD in your own body, or just tired of carrying the whole invisible load by yourself, you’re in the right place.
